CBD Information Q&A

1. What is CBD?

At Artem Luxe, we use CBD extracted from organically grown, natural hemp. Using the "gold standard" extraction method, we preserve high levels of CBD while excluding THC to meet all UK law requirements.

CBD is short for Cannabidiol. There are over 100 different cannabinoids found in hemp and marajuna. This is a naturally occurring cannabinoid, which is an active chemical compound. We have these in our bodies naturally - they are similar to chemicals the body makes that are involved in memory, appetite, movement, and pain.

2. Where does Artem Luxe CBD come from?

Our hemp is grown organically, in pesticide free all natural farms in the United States of America, Colorado.

Made from full plant extract, each bottle contains 500mg of Broad Spectrum distillate containing CBD,CBC,CBG and CBD-A. We use the gold extraction method, allowing us to contain all the good CBD chemicals. This extraction is done in the United Kingdom, where the CBD is bottled and packaged for you.

3. What is THC?

THC is the cannabinoid known for producing "psychoactive effects". CBD Oil has to have 0.1% or less THC by UK Law.

4. Is CBD addictive?

No. Harvard Health Publishing stated: "While CBD is a component of marijuana (one of hundreds), by itself it does not cause a “high.” According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

5. What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?

Both hemp and marijuana belong in the same "plant family". They are types of cannabis which come from the group Cannabaceae, but they are different in chemical composition, effect and CBD levels.

Hemp contains around 0.2% THC and 5-8% CBD. Marijuana contains more THC (around 10-20%), while including less CBD.

Our Broad Spectrum CBD Oil is created from Hemp.

6. How does CBD work?

We have receptors in our bodies which are all part of your endocannabinoid system. This is a system of lipid-based retrograde neurotransmitters mostly found in your brain and spinal cord. This means that CBD interacts harmoniously with our own bodies to produce and stimulate the effect it has, and is a completely natural process. CBD first passes through your cell membrane together with a fatty acid binding protein (FABP), in turn this connects with various lipid molecules into the cell’s interior.

Your body naturally produces endocannabinoids, which are neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors in your nervous system. Studies have shown that CBD may help multiple factors (such as pain, inflammation, anxiety, sleep deprivation) by impacting endocannabinoid receptor activity. These include:

1. Serotonin Receptors: "The key hormone that stabilizes our mood, feelings of well-being, and happiness. This hormone impacts your entire body. It enables brain cells and other nervous system cells to communicate with each other. Serotonin also helps with sleeping, eating, and digestion." Hormone Health Network

2. Vanilloid Receptors: known to mediate pain perception, inflammation and body temperature.

3. GPR55: widely expressed in the brain, especially in the cerebellum. It is involved in modulating blood pressure and bone density, among other physiological processes.

4. Nuclear Recepors: PPARS: known for it's anti-proliferative effect, linked to the remedy of Alzheimer’s, ability to induce tumor regression and regulation of energy homeostasis.

7. Why is CBD good for you?

Scientists are continuously uncovering the beneficial effects of CBD. However UK law includes CBD as a food supplement, meaning by law we cannot go into detail about why CBD is so great. Please research for more information!

“Everybody who buys the product comes back and raves about it — including my mother” The Washington Post

8. What is "Broad Spectrum"?

Broad Spectrum is one of the three main forms of cannabidiol (CBD). This contains a range of naturally occurring compounds from the cannabis plant, but a low percentage of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

As it includes all of the good cannabinoids and 0.01% THC, it enables our bodies to produce a better entourage effect" resulting in improved benefits.

Other forms of cannabidiol are:

Full Spectrum: this includes most cannabinoids but has a higher percentage of THC.

CBD isolate: this is a pure form of only CBD with no THC. It is a highly processed product that may not enable the entourage effect.

Artem Luxe CBD is a Broad Spectrum oil.

9. Is CBD legal?

Yes. CBD is legal in the UK with content <0.1% THC.

10. Can anyone use CBD?

Yes, however you must be over 18 years of age. If you have any known allergies, please speak to your doctor before using CBD. Please do not use CBD if you are pregnant, taking medication, have a pre-existing medical condition.

Please remember that CBD reacts differently for everyone, as we each have our own unique endocannabinoid system. It is important to test how CBD works well for you, as we each have our own unique system in our bodies. This could be for example, taking CBD at a certain time of day is better for you or mixing it with certain drinks/food improves your absorption.
